What insurance do you take?
We offer transparent, cost-plus pricing on all the medications we dispense without insurance. For some, our prescription prices on generic medications are about the same or cheaper than using insurance. If you're paying $10 or more for your generic medications, you should call us to compare prices or see for yourself with our Price Checker.
What is Cost-Plus?
Cost-Plus is a simple and transparent pricing methodology. We price all prescriptions based on our actual cost of the medication from our wholesaler plus a 5% markup and $10 (or $5 for FWDRX Members) to cover our labor and overhead costs. This allows us to post our prescription prices online on our Price Checker. We use the same cost-plus pricing formula ever time no matter what medication you get or how many. Anyone can audit us at anytime by asking for our invoice cost and we will gladly show it. That's what true transparency is all about!
How are your prices on generic medications so much cheaper than other pharmacies?
Traditional pharmacies agree to insurance contract terms that prohibit them from charging a lower retail price than they would bill to insurance. This means their prices are set based on the insurance plan that pays them the most money. The contract terms also cause them to lose money on prescriptions in hopes to substantially profit on others to cover their loses. Even if they wanted to match our prices on generic medications, it would be a violation of their insurance plan contract terms and could risk closing their pharmacy.
Do you take prescription discount coupons?
We do not. However, if we're aware of another option at a different pharmacy that offers significant savings on the medication you're looking for, we will gladly help you access it at that pharmacy. We're in the business of helping people afford their medications and providing exceptional customer service even if that means getting your prescription filled somewhere else.
Do you offer delivery?
We can ship prescriptions via USPS to anywhere in Pennsylvania and Ohio. Shipping costs vary by location and weight, but we're able to provide you with an exact shipping cost prior to mailing out your prescriptions. We also offer same day prescription delivery in the evenings to residents of New Brighton, Rochester, Freedom, and Conway. Our prescription delivery fee is $4. FWDRX Members get FREE shipping and delivery on 90 day supply prescriptions.
Is Forward Rx a legit pharmacy?
Yes. Forward Rx is an independent pharmacy licensed by the Pennsylvania Board of Pharmacy - License Number PP483164. We are also licensed by the State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy as a Terminal - Non-Resident Pharmacy - Category 3 License Number 0242000640 to dispense and ship medications to Ohio.
Where do you buy your medications from?
We are proud to partner with Value Drug Company as our primary wholesaler for medications and most of our front-end OTC products. Value Drug Company is based right here in Pennsylvania and has been serving independent pharmacies and their communities since 1934. We only buy FDA approved medications from NABP accredited distributors for the prescriptions we fill. We also include the specific 11-digit National Drug Code (NDC) number of each medication listed on our price checker. These are the same medications accessible to U.S. chain and mail-order pharmacies for purchase.
