FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
New Brighton, PA - October 22, 2025
Forward Rx Pharmacy, Beaver County’s local cost-plus pharmacy, is making sacubitril/valsartan tablets, the new FDA-approved generic version of the heart failure drug Entresto, available at a regular price of $29.89 for a one-month supply to those with a valid prescription no matter what insurance a patient has or does not have. The pharmaceutical industry’s Average Wholesale Price (AWP), which is what other pharmacies and insurance companies use to base their prices and copays on, is $529.38.
Unlike your average pharmacy, Forward Rx uses a cost-plus pricing strategy to set their prescription prices. To come up with their prescription prices, they take their actual cost to source the medication from their wholesaler plus a 5% markup plus cost to dispense the medication which includes a Drug Utilization Review done by the pharmacist to make sure the medication is appropriate, safe, effective, and taken correctly. Patients who choose to become a FWDRX Member of the pharmacy for $60 per year can access a one-month supply of sacubitril/valsartan tablets for $22.89.
“With so much confusion and uncertainty right now around increasing insurance costs and prescription costs, we’re pleased to offer a transparent price on this new generic medication to those with a valid prescription that need it,” said Brandon Antinopoulos, Pharmacist and Owner of Forward Rx. “When our cost goes down, your cost goes down. This is just one of the ways we’re working to bring transparency, affordability, and patient choice back to healthcare.”
Patients with a valid prescription for Entresto or the generic version can contact Forward Rx to see about getting their prescription transferred from their current pharmacy. They can also ask their prescriber to send a new prescription electronically to Forward Rx in New Brighton, PA.
About Forward Rx:
Forward Rx is a local, independent pharmacy on a mission to bring transparency, affordability, and patient choice back to healthcare. It accomplishes this by dispensing medications directly to patients at transparent, cost-plus pricing; offering services that help patients access their medications at affordable prices while optimizing their therapy; and promoting services and products that support a healthy lifestyle. The current prescription insurance model drives up costs for many individuals and businesses. It is filled with hidden, patient-steering intermediaries that increase the cost of healthcare in the United States. Forward Rx believes that complete transparency and the removal of unnecessary intermediaries between patients and their local pharmacy are essential to reducing prescription and insurance costs.
